Product Review: Turtle Gloves Running Mittens Keep You Warm

"Disclaimer: I received a pair of Turtle Gloves to review as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review, find, and write race reviews!"

Traditionally, I’m the guy you see running completely under-dressed for the weather. Shorts and tanks are my go-to year around run clothing. So when the chance to review winter mittens came up, I had to think about it. I’ve only used one pair of gloves during my many years of running, and they didn’t seem to keep my hands that warm. Plus, they were a pain to keep up with. With that said, I knew I could benefit from some extra warmth during cold training runs and races. If only I could find the right product…

When the Turtle Gloves finally arrived, they came with a great welcome package – a Turtle Gloves bag, koozie, and sticker. Upon first inspection, I knew these were high-quality gloves/mittens. The material is incredibly soft and warm. They also have a loop on each glove to easily store and attach to a race belt, etc. The specific model I received was their Midweight Winter Soft Turtle-flip Mittens.

The turtle-flip design of these gloves is incredibly versatile. This was really where Turtle Gloves won me over. Depending on the conditions you’re running in, you have several options in how you utilize the gloves. The full mitten keeps your hands and fingers warm, dry, and protected from the elements. These are toasty gloves! I’ve been able to test these throughout a variety of conditions, and can honestly say that they are amazing winter activity gloves. While, I mostly use these for running, I’ve also done walks, hikes, and bike trips with the Turtle Gloves.

Once you get warmed up, and you most certainly will with these gloves, you can easily flip the mittens back into a fingerless glove. This allows for you to get some fresh air while still keeping your palms and wrists warm. It also gives you the ability to operate your phone, watch, etc. If you continue to get even warmer, you can roll the fingerless gloves up into a wrist band or just take them off for quick storage.

These gloves come in a variety of colors and patterns. I was thrilled to see the classic BibRave orange and logo on this particular model. A fellow BibRave Pro highlighted the added safety feature of these orange gloves when doing trail runs during hunting season. It’s definitely an added bonus and something that I’ve used for peace of mind when heading out into the woods.

We generally have mild winters here in Tennessee, but it still gets cold. I was lucky enough to test these out in some light snow and was still completely warm and protected from the elements. You should definitely add these to your running gear arsenal!

Turtle Gloves is an American made product, manufactured in Michigan. Their gear and customer satisfaction are fantastic. And thanks to their partnership with BibRave, you can snag your own at a 15% discount with code TURTLEBIBRAVE.
