This spring, 2021, will showcase a few new models to the already impressive lineup of barefoot-inspired shoes. The moment I received the new Daylite Hiker Fusion, I could tell that this was a winner!
On the surface, the Daylite Hiker Fusion is a lightweight, water resistant hiking shoe. And it’s a great one at that. But after only a few wears, it is clear that this shoe is capable of so much more. This is one of the greatest things about Xero Shoes – they know that we’re going to use this for all types of outdoor activities.
After several long hikes in these, across various terrain and conditions, I decided to test them for speed. The lightness of the material (just 12.4 ounces a shoe) coupled with the 3.5mm lugs make for a great trail running workhorse. Add in the water resistant material and you’ll be flying up and down the trails all day with a smile.
Throughout the testing process, I intentionally went out in nasty weather conditions. The Daylite Hiker Fusion stayed true to its purpose and kept me dry and secure on the slippery slopes. I was pleasantly surprised with the responsiveness of the shoe. And the soles are just right – thin enough to still feel the earth beneath, but thick enough to offer the right amount of protection against sharp rocks, etc. As with any Xero Shoes model, these feature plenty of room for the toes to move naturally, and a zero heel-to-toe drop, making these shoes a natural fit.
